Turkey earthquake: hatayspor sport director found dead under rubble

Turkish club Hatayspor announced on Tuesday the death of its sporting director, whose lifeless body was found under the rubble of the earthquake in Turkey.

Another sad news. Two weeks after the earthquake that hit the city of Antakya, in southern Turkey , and its region, Taner Savut, the sporting director of the Hatayspor club, was found dead.

“We are deeply saddened, posted on the Hatay club networks. May God have mercy on our sports director. We express our condolences to his family and fans. We won’t forget you, Professor Taner. May God rest your soul in paradise. You are always in our hearts.”

The 48-year-old native of Izmir arrived at the club last summer from second division side Manisa FK.

The Hatayspor club, located in the old town of Antakya and which is 14th in the SüperLig, was very affected by the earthquake which killed nearly 45,000 people between Turkey and Syria. A few days ago, one of its players, Christian Atsu, was also found dead under the rubble . The body of the 31-year-old striker has been repatriated to Ghana, his native country.

And while the resumption of the Turkish championship is scheduled for March 3, new earthquakes of magnitude 6.4 and 5.8 occurred on Monday in the same region.

Note that the Hatayspor club, which has facilitated the departure of many players for a few days, had announced that it would not play again for the season.
