The United States administration will announce on Monday, April 3, another $2.6 billion military assistance package to Ukraine, which will include air surveillance radars, anti-tank missiles, and fuel trucks. This was reported on Friday by Reuters, citing sources.
About half a dozen different types of munitions, including tank rounds, could also be in the new military aid package, the contents of which will be finalized this weekend, they said. In addition, the list is expected to include high-precision aviation munitions, shells for NASAMS anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as crossing and bridge equipment, vehicles for evacuating damaged heavy equipment. The interlocutors of the agency also said that the total amount of the aid package and its contents could still be adjusted.
At the same time, the agency emphasizes that $ 2.1 billion of these funds will be implemented as part of the initiative to promote the security of Ukraine. It involves the conclusion by the US military department of relevant contracts with manufacturers, and not the provision of this or that equipment and means directly from the Pentagon’s stocks. In other words, we are talking about the beginning of the process of concluding contracts for the provision of new means of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, ammunition for the remaining $ 500 million will be sent from the reserves of the Ministry of Defense.
According to the Pentagon, since the beginning of the special military operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the United States has allocated more than $32.5 billion for military assistance to Kyiv. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and other Russian officials have repeatedly drawn attention to the danger of the spread of weapons supplied by the West to Ukraine to other regions. Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov warned that the militarization of Ukraine by the West directly threatens European and global security.
