Allegedly robbed German found lying

Two days after a German tourist claimed that he was robbed at knifepoint in the city near Valasaravakkam, police have found that he had cooked up a story to trace the bag he had misplaced. However, police recovered his belongings from his room.

According to the complaint by Friedrich Vincent, 23, he was walking towards his service apartment in Sridevi Kuppam, when two bike-borne suspects allegedly intercepted and robbed him. He said besides attacking him they had escaped with two of his bags, containing laptop and clothes. He also gave an imaginary description about the suspects and said that they had masked their faces to escape from being identified.

He claimed that the robbery happened when he was on his way to the apartment from Central Railway Station.

Police who checked the CCTV footage found no such incident took place. A probe revealed that he was lying. When police checked his room they found his bag. Police said that a detailed report will be filed before the magistrate and based on the court directions, action will be taken against him.
