Ukrainian military intelligence says it intercepted a phone call from a Russian soldier expressing fears about an offensive by Kyiv in Crimea.
“I heard that once again, these bastards are planning something huge ,” in Crimea , says, panicked, a Russian soldier whose phone call was intercepted by Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR).
The soldier tells a friend that he has heard information according to which three infantry divisions and equipment are being accumulated by Kyiv in order to retake the peninsula annexed by Moscow in 2014.
“Well, damn, three divisions, 100,000 people ,” continues the frightened soldier in this recording, the contents of which were revealed by the Kyiv Post . “ All these tanks, everything they have prepared, will be launched. They want to reconquer Crimea , ” he worries.
Three divisions
Then revising his initial estimate to 150,000 Ukrainian troops , he clarified: ” Three divisions are in preparation. The first two will be offensive forces and the third a sweep.”
His interlocutor, visibly informed of Russian difficulties on the front line, tries to calm his friend by reminding him that Moscow also has reserves. Without really being able to calm him down.
“Well, we have a little reserve , ” the soldier responds shyly. “It appears that personnel are being trained at Chebarkul (the Russian Armed Forces special forces training base).”
The Kyiv Post, however, claims not to know where this terrified Russian soldier got his information about such a force ready to liberate the peninsula. Especially since recently, notes the newspaper, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he hoped that there would be no direct confrontation between Russian and Ukrainian troops in Crimea.
