Appointee will help grow organisation’s operations and outreach to at-risk scholars
Scholars At Risk, a global organisation that provides help to academics suffering infringements on their freedom, is seeking a new Europe director to oversee and expand its operations on the continent.
The network of 650 higher education institutions in 42 countries launched SAR Europe in 2018, to offer protection, advocacy and research opportunities for at-risk students and researchers.
SAR Europe is hosted by Maynooth University in Ireland, where the director will be based in an office with a staff of five.
The organisation oversees the EU-funded Inspireurope+ project to provide support for research at risk, as well as the MSCA4Ukraine fellowship scheme for displaced Ukrainian researchers.
“The director will have overall responsibility for the management of SAR’s European office, including oversight of all operational and programmatic aspects, people management, strategy, planning, fundraising and communications,” the job notice says.
The post has a salary range of €84,949 to €119,970. Applications close on 25 January.
